crushed in your palm
these crumbs you spread
are no sustenance for life
why must you feed me
so little and kick me
when you find me starved
if you wish to
see me perish
cup your empty
hands around the
flame
crumbs
everywhere
where will
they lead
I follow
the path
picking up
each one
their taste
lingers
an echo
of your love
always follow
never lead
the path
it bends
the crumbs are gone
deep in the woods
I see a house
a lovely home
you stand there
in the doorway
you smile
but not at me
another stands with you
wrapped
in your arms
crumbs
that's all
I am
the crumbs
I collected
the birds have come
they peck
tear
scratch
they carry me
far away
back
to the
beginning
crumbs
fall
down
a path
of gold
below
I stand
back
at the start
I will never
learn
but you
could stop
let
me
starve
